If the source is to be believed, and I am pretty sure they are correct. This is a copy of a particularly early photo of James Leitch, his wife, Jean, his daughters Mary Ann, Jean and Christina. Cannot say which daughter is which lady in the picture. I can only guess by their relative age. They emigrated to Canada from Saltcoats in 1832. James was dead by 1852 according to my research. Looking at the dresses the picture does date from mid century.
I gave a presentation on the trajectories of three families, including the Leitches, in January, and this photo was used. It caused quite a stir amongst the historians there. What do you think?
