“A Nicht wi’ Burns.” – The “Lecture on Burns and his Songs,” delivered last night by Mr John Burnside, in the lecture hall of St Gabriel Church, was a complete success and well attended.  After giving a short account of the life of the poet, Mr Burnside sung a number of Burns’ most popular songs in which he was accompanied by Mr FW Burnside in a most effective manner.  “Flow gently, sweet Afton,” “Scots wha Hae” and “Duncan Gray” were rendered by the lecturer with great effect and were warmly applauded by an appreciative audience.

Lecture in the Boys’ Home- Mr Campbell Lane delivered last evening, in aid of the Boys’ Home, a lecture in St Andrew’s Church, detailing in a cosy manner his experience during his trip to the Old Country last summer on the occasion of the artillery team’s visit.  The audience was large and appreciative, several songs varied the programme of the evening, and the lecturer received a most hearty vote of thanks for his clever and amusing lecture.
