Montreal Daily Star, 19 March 1936, page 10
In light of the news the other day that the Canadian government’s debt would be larger than anticipated, I thought to show you that history repeats itself. In 1936, after a season of actual flooding in NE North America, and horrifying budgets to deal with the economic effects of the depression, the Daily Star published this cartoon.
Since the Canadian government has dragged us down into a 50$B debt (with good interest rates- so says the Prime Minister!) in less than a year, I thought the sentiment appropos.
